Olympic Swimming Pool of Vaise

The City of Lyon made a commitment on a policy of reducing energy consumptions on its building heritage. The swimming pool of Vaise is the only indoor olympic pool of Lyon. The municipality made renovation works in 2006-2007 with the aim of reorganizing the room changing facilities and of opening during the summer period (opening pool outwards for creacing a sun terrace). Energy savings were taken into account by the implementation of 2 solar installations.

Nautical Center André Sousi

Opened in 1973, the nautical center of Bron is an equipment of sports and leisure activities. Its popularity exceeds the limits of the municipality with more than 260.000 visitors a year. With a capacity of 1.200 persons, it has an opening roof and several pools: an Olympic pool covered with 50 m (8 lines for swimming) of a constant depth of 1,80 m, a small pool covered of 20 m with a depth from 0,7 to 1,2 m and a paddling pool situated outside. In the 90s, a condenser improved the system of heating. The nautical center benefi ted of a rehabilitation with the method HQE ® (environmental quality of buildings) in 2006 and 2007 which ameliorated conditions of reception and features of the equipment.

Nautical Centre HQE

The Town of Décines-Charpieu built a nautical center delivered in 2005. It had been designed according to the step of "High Environmental Quality". This equipment contains many architectural and technical qualities to durably minimize its environmental impacts (management of water and energy, choice of materials) and to ensure the comfort of the users. In a preoccupation with recoursing to renewable energies and saving energy, the insulation of the building was reinforced. The pre-heating of the showers is ensured by thermal solar collectors. A heat pump manages the dehumidification and the recovery of heat.

The City of Villeurbanne made a commitment on a policy of reducing energy consumptions on its building heritage. Consequently the City decided, in 2004, to realize works of renovation : insulation of the roof on the nautical center and improvement on the heating system. To lead this renovation further, a study was also led, with the ALE partnership and the energy office GIRUS to add solar thermal system to the swimming pool. So near half of the roof's surface on the Olympic pool has been covered with solar cells allowing to preheat the water of both outside ponds and of the internal pond. This installation is one of the most important of this type at this day in France.
